Medium to full-bodied, the palate is finely crafted with a firm line of ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness supporting the perfumed fruit through the incredibly long finish.
Intense blueberry nose with great precision and expression. Full and vibrant on the palate with a minty note. Wonderful structure.
Firm but ripe tannins and very long. Needs time to soften. Great potential. Try in Very chewy, with wonderful blueberry and mineral character.
Hints of mint too. Full and super classy. Love the texture of the tannins. Hyper-refined in texture. Very dark with even a hint of brown.
Direct and leathery on the nose. Then very sweet - almost right-bank sweetness - but then it returns to acidity and fine tannin.
A dramatic even if not-that-comfortable wine. Almost too drying on the finish but it works in the end. Slightly tarry finish. Not the most succulent.
Owner Bernard Magrez has made serious investments here since the late 's and recent vintages have been outstanding thanks to extremely low yields, labour-intensive sorting of grapes and modern wine-making techniques.
The nose is wonderfully smoky and tarry with lots of sexy new oak. There is masses of black cherry fruit on the palate with creme de cassis and vanilla notes.
Big, plush and plump, this Pape Clement is ripe and modern but it's classically Graves in style too. Opulent and complex. Tasted April This is rich and decadent with lots of wet earth, tobacco, berries and hints of cedar.
Full body, round and velvety tannins and a long, long finish. Better in This is already a gorgeous wine with spices, berries, dark chocolate and walnuts.
Full body, soft and silky. Better than The Pape Clement is one of racier, more voluptuous wines of the year. Deep, supple and flamboyant, the is laced with expressive dark stone fruit, game, cured meats and dried flowers.
This is one of the more extroverted wines of the year. It should drink well with minimal cellaring and drink well to age This is another strong from proprietor Bernard Magrez and Michel Rolland.
Very intense dark purplish crimson. Super-clean refreshing-but-ripe black fruit aromas. Sweet palate entry and then rather refreshing and muscular.
For the moment it's all ripe sweetness but it has the constitution for giving immense pleasure. All the constituents are in the right balance and the finish is most refreshing.
Deep purple in the glass. The nose is ripe and rich with blackcurrant fruit, coconut, and nutmeg. A real blockbuster nose. The palate follows in the same vein, with a dense, opulent core of ripe black fruits.
The tannins are ripe and in balance with the smoky oak and full bodied texture. There is a saturating intensity to the fruit that lingers on the long finish.
This shows finesse and class of the vintage with pure blackberry and currant character. Full body, fine tannins and a beautiful finish.
Dark, sumptuous and creamy, it exudes class. Black cherry, mocha, spice, espresso, menthol and new leather are all pushed forward in a spherical, rich wine that captivates all the senses.
As always, this is an overt style, but the purity of the fruit comes through nicely now that the oak has started to integrate. There is plenty of the Magrez trademark richness, but done in a slightly more restrained style than in the past.
This is a gorgeous wine by any measure. Tasted three times. Tasted blind. One of the first positively interesting noses for a while.
Then a very dry finish. Owner Bernard Magrez has made serious investments here since the late 's and recent vintages have been outstanding thanks to extremely low yields, labour-intensive sorting of grapes and modern wine-making techniques.
Quality bears no relation to the weedy wines of the early 's and before. Deep purple colour. Black fruits on the nose with mulberry and exotic spice with a smoky toasty character.
The palate is rich and intense with black cherry, blackcurrant and roasted coffee. Opulent but iwth mouthfilling ripe tannins to give structure.
